Dave Filipchuk’s passion for building began early—first with Lego, then helping his father construct the family cabin. That early fascination led him to pursue civil engineering at the University of Alberta and in 1984, launching a remarkable four-decade career with PCL Construction leaving a lasting impact on Canada’s construction landscape.
Rising through leadership roles across PCL’s operations, Dave became President and CEO in 2016, and today serves as Chair of the Board for both PCL Construction Holdings Ltd. and PCL Employee Holdings Ltd. Under his leadership, PCL surpassed $11 billion in annual revenue and strengthened its innovation and sustainability practices.
Throughout his career, Dave has credited the company’s unique breadth and culture for shaping his leadership approach—learning from a wide range of mentors and striving to “model the way” for others by lifting them up to succeed. His belief in empowering others is matched by his dedication to advancing equity, mentorship, and inclusion within the industry, including doubling the number of women in leadership roles during his tenure.
