2025 Northern Alberta Business Hall of Fame Inductees

David Kent’s entrepreneurial journey began in 1979 with just $11.58 and a vision. That vision became Nearctic Property Group—now one of Edmonton’s most respected real estate development and management firms.
Over 45 years, David has developed and managed more than one million square feet of commercial, industrial, and residential space, generating hundreds of millions in economic activity. His approach focused on long-term value, tenant satisfaction, and community-oriented design—prioritizing quality and integrity over short-term gains.
Under his leadership, Nearctic has earned prestigious awards, including the BOMA Toby Award for Canada’s Best Light Industrial Building, the Mayor’s Award for Accessible Homes, and an Urban Design Award of Merit for Strathearn Heights. Still, David views people—not accolades—as the best measure of success. Reflecting on his journey, he credits his team, mentors, and family for believing in his vision.
His advice to JA students: “Be passionate, because the path isn’t a straight line—and it’s usually a long one. So enjoy the ride.”
