Kristen works for Federal Express Canada, and has been an advisor for Junior Achievement’s Company Program for 5 years. Here is her story:
I was first introduced to Junior Achievement by my best friend’s father Gary Silsbe. He had already been a long time volunteer for this organization and while in high school with his daughter we were given the opportunity to join JA as students in the company program. After 3 years of the company program, and all of the amazing experiences and opportunities that it had provided to us we decided to give back and return on the opposite side of the program. As volunteer advisors we now have the chance to encourage growth among these junior high and high school students, and watch as they create lasting memories and take advantage of all the doors that will open to their futures. It’s an incredible feeling to be a part of a student’s dynamic transformation from shy 14 year olds to successful, confident and impressive graduates.
