Key Dates
May 15th, 2026 – Deadline to Apply
May – June – Short-listed students selected and notified via email in June
June 2nd, 2026 – Candidates interviewed by a panel of judges chosen by JA
June 20th, 2026, – Recipients announced at JA’s Celebration of Achievement
General Criteria – All Awards:
- Overall 80% attendance in the Company Program.
- Minimum 10% or $200 in sales achieved personally for your company.
- Demonstrated dedication and commitment to learning at JA.

Tim Melton President of the Year
Tim Melton President of the Year Award Criteria:
Applicants in a President role who have made a significant contribution towards improving and developing the outcome of the company’s success and an interest in helping others.
– 90% weekly team meeting attendance
– 80% overall attendance (other meetings and events)
– Individually achieved $200 or 10% of company sales
– Ensure all operations are running smoothly within the company
– Company has a complete and accurate Shareholder’s Report

Foundation for the Advancement of Entrepreneurship Award
Foundation for the Advancement of Entrepreneurship Award Criteria:
Awarded to an achiever who displayed innovation and a superior use of technology for the advancement of their company and product/service. Winner selected on the basis of scholastic ability, individual achievement, as well as leadership and career potential.

Gary Silsbe Leadership Award
Gary Silsbe Leadership Award Criteria:
Applicants in any role who have demonstrated leadership or mentorship in their JA company (official or unofficial), personal growth within the JA program, involvement in their community, commitment to furthering their education and a response about how this award will make a meaningful difference in assisting their pursuit of post-secondary studies.
– Preference MAY be given to applicants who have participated in Company Program more than once
– Preference MAY be given to applicants who have served as an executive.
– Successful applicant must begin post-secondary education within 12 months of receiving this award.

Reagan Williams Achiever of the Year
Reagan Williams Achiever of the Year Award Criteria:
Applicants in any role who demonstrate outstanding leadership qualities, a thorough understanding of business procedures, excellent rapport with students and mentors, and exemplary performance on tasks.
– Preference WILL be given to applicants who demonstrate participation in high school extra curricular, community, and/or volunteer activities.
– 90% weekly team meeting attendance

Outstanding VP of Health and Safety
VP Health & Safety of the Year Award Criteria:
Awarded to a student in the position of VP Health & Safety who has;
– Displayed an outstanding understanding of emergency response precautions
– Analyzation of risk and kept accurate records of incidents and hazards

Outstanding VP of Technology
VP Technology of the Year Award Criteria:
Awarded to a student in the position of VP Technology who has;
– Utilize technology in an innovative way for their company’s internal and external strategy
– Developed a functional website, train members on the IT systems, and initiate social media platforms
– Completed the Master class on AI or additional JA, AI certifications

Outstanding VP of Human Resources
VP Human Resources of the Year Award Criteria:
Awarded to a student in the position of VP Human Resources who has;
– Initiated social entrepreneurship endeavors and maintained company morale
– Demonstrated excellent performance in personnel procedures
– Good rapport with Achievers and Mentors
– Lead their team through the JA Resiliency Moduels.

Outstanding VP of Production
VP Production of the Year Award Criteria:
Awarded to a student in the position of VP Production who has;
– Ensured materials are available every night and that the company is effectively producing product
– Demonstrated excellent performance on production procedures, quality control, purchasing, safety, and record keeping.

Outstanding VP of Finance
VP Finance of the Year Award Criteria:
Awarded to a student in the position of VP Finance who has;
– Excellent records and calculations with high degree of accuracy delivered on time

VP Sales of the Year Award Criteria:
Awarded to a student in the position of VP Sales who has;
– Achieved significant product sales
– Demonstrates the etiquette and know-how to be a successful salesperson in the real world

Awarded to a student who has;
– A recommendation by an Advisor
– An excellent work ethic throughout the year

Rookie of the Year
Rookie of the Year Award Criteria:
Awarded to a student who;
– Has a recommendation provided by an Advisor
– Is a first-year Achiever who has shown exceptional dedication and growth and works well in their role

Next Generation Leader Award
Next Generation Leader Award Criteria:
Awarded to two students who provide compelling personal perspective on how JA Company Program has been a life changing experience and who have demonstrated innovation and creativity, exemplary performance in their company responsibilities and a willingness to assist and help others. Supported by CPA Alberta Education Foundation.

We see your potential award
We See you Award Criteria:
Students must be nominated by their mentor teams to be invited for an interview. Mentors will identify students who show incredible potential and may have worked behind the scenes and out of the spot light. A total of two students will be selected for this award across all student companies.
