2024 Northern Alberta Business Hall of Fame Inductees
Drew Schamehorn was born in Calgary, Alberta in 1954. However, before his 16th birthday, he had lived in seven Canadian cities, four provinces, and even Germany. The reason his family moved around so much was that his father worked in the military, earning him the moniker “Army Brat.”
In 1973, Drew was hired for his first job painting houses in Victoria, but while attending a wedding in Edmonton, he was offered a job in the oil field. Gladly accepting the position, he relocated to Edmonton after only three days.
After marrying his wife Sharon in 1978, Drew left a sales position to purchase Alberta Trophy & Gift Shop, which had been owned by his in-laws. After purchasing ATGS, he acquired Elite T-Shirt, a local t-shirt shop in 1988. Drew merged the two businesses to become Elite Sportswear & Awards, which eventually became what is known today as Elite Promotional Marketing.
Now, after 45 years of marriage, Sharon and Drew look on as three of their children work at Elite, while we watching their nine grandchildren grow and learn, and supporting them in their favourite sports.
